How to Care for Your Outdoor Jatropha Integerrima
☀️ Light
-
Prefers full sunlight for healthy growth and abundant flowering.
-
Provide around 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
-
Adequate sunlight encourages dense branching, vibrant foliage, and continuous flower production during favorable growing conditions.
-
Well adapted to the UAE's sunny climate, although newly planted specimens may benefit from temporary afternoon shade during extreme summer heat.
💧 Water
-
Water thoroughly when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry.
-
Requires moderate watering to maintain healthy growth and encourage flowering.
-
Once established, it becomes relatively drought-tolerant, although regular watering supports better flowering.
-
Increase watering frequency during hot summer months, depending on soil moisture and weather conditions.
-
Avoid excessive watering and constantly saturated soil, which may cause root rot.
-
Ensure the soil has good drainage to maintain healthy root development.
🌡️ Temperature
-
Thrives in warm to hot climates, with favorable growing temperatures of approximately 20–35°C.
-
Well suited to the UAE's outdoor environment with proper watering and care.
-
Established plants can tolerate high temperatures, although extreme summer heat may temporarily reduce flowering.
-
Protect young plants from unusually cold temperatures and frost, as prolonged cold exposure may damage the foliage and stems.
💦 Humidity
-
Tolerates low to moderate humidity and adapts well to warm outdoor environments.
-
Normal outdoor humidity is generally sufficient for healthy growth.
-
Can withstand relatively dry conditions once established, provided adequate soil moisture is maintained.
-
Good air circulation helps maintain healthy foliage and reduces the risk of fungal diseases.
🌱 Fertilizer
-
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer every 2–3 months during active growth, following the product instructions.
-
Proper feeding encourages healthy foliage, strong root development, and abundant flowering.
-
Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilization, as it may promote leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
-
Reduce fertilizer application during periods of extreme heat or slow growth.
